McKie Resource Centre
More than just a library
The last few decades have seen an unprecedented expansion in new technologies, most importantly telecommunications. To take full advantage of these developments, our students require an environment in which they can use, explore, and master the latest available technologies.
The McKie Resource Centre meets these specific needs. On one level, it's an extremely well-equipped library, with an extensive selection of new books on a range of topics, daily access to major newspapers, and a wide range of magazines and journals.
Technology plays a central role at the Centre. Computers and library catalogues are available for students’ use, as are printing, scanning and photocopying. Our friendly staff are always on hand for those who need help and advice with the catalogue and online resources.
The Centre's comprehensive AV department features advanced electronic equipment for loan, including cameras, data projectors and recording equipment, with a convenient online booking service. Taping of off-air and previously screened programs is also available, along with help and instruction in the use of all AV equipment.
The Centre also features teacher services, including online ordering of staff faculty resources, cataloguing and processing services, collection of general teacher references, and access to online resources and databases.
Students at the McKie Resource Centre learn how to access academic databases, conduct research beyond simply ‘googling’ a particular topic, and expertly navigate the library's resources. By providing our students with a solid groundwork in these areas, we give them the knowledge to evaluate competing sources and master a diverse range of electronic and traditional media.
