Kilvington and Japanese Alliances

We are fortunate at Kilvington to enjoy a number of close alliances with Japanese organisations which provide our students with many opportunities.

We offer a program for International Students to visit Australia to study and experience our culture. Many of these students come from Japan. Kilvington girls gain much from their hosting experience as it provides a window to the wider world. Kilvington students also have the privilege to visit Japan where they can witness first hand the wonders of a different culture.

Over the years we have developed a special relationship with three Schools located in Japan, Hirano Gakuenin in Ogaki, Hiroshima Jogakuin in Hiroshima and Tokoyo Gakuen in Tokyo. We appreciate these alliances and the unique opportunities they bring. We have much in common with our sister schools and share many common values, such as a deep respect for the individual. The Principal Jon Charlton recently spent time in Japan visiting these schools and strengthening our ties.

Another Kilvington / Japanese link was forged in April 2008 when Kilvington Girls’ Grammar was selected as the new location for the Melbourne International School of Japanese for their Saturday school. Over 400 students, both male and female, attend Saturday school at Kilvington and their ages range from 4 to 18.

We will continue to identify alliances that will provide Kilvington students with the chance to experience and understand other cultures to enrich their own.
