Kilvington Student Wins
Alliance Francaise Competition Sarah Holper, a Year 11
student at Kilvington Girls’ Grammar, has topped the State for
her year level in the oral section of the prestigious Alliance
Francaise Berthe Mouchette competition.
Sarah demonstrated her fluency in French during an oral
interview with examiners, which covered topics including school,
friends and aspirations. To qualify for this final interview,
Sarah had to prepare a speech on a chosen topic, which was the
environment, as well as passing a general interview.
Now in her fifth year of studying French at Kilvington Girls’
Grammar School, Sarah looks forward to studying the subject in
future. ‘I love the challenge of learning French. A second
language could give me the chance to study or work overseas,’
she says.
The Ambassador of France will present Sarah with her first prize
at a ceremony in November.
Kilvington Girls’ Grammar also had three other finalists from
Year 12 in the competition.
Alliance Francaise attracted over 16,000 entrants from across
Victoria, and has been conducted for the past 120 years.
