Small enough to care, big enough to excel.
Kilvington is an independent, coeducational Baptist school in Melbourne with a strong sense of community and a rich history, offering comprehensive education from Early Learning to VCE. Situated on one campus in the Melbourne suburb of Ormond, our School has been closely linked to the local community since it was founded in 1923.

A Kilvington education is based on four key pillars – Academic Excellence, Character, Community and Care. These pillars are interdependent to help our students become thinking, strong, caring and respectful people who, once leaving school, will positively engage with and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
At Kilvington, academic excellence is achieved within an inclusive and collaborative environment that values challenge, depth and the sequential development of skills and knowledge. Our educational philosophy encourages high expectations, timely feedback and self-regulation, helping to create a culture where students are motivated to grow and achieve. With 75% of our VCE students consistently placing in the top 25% of the State, and NAPLAN results regularly above the national standard, our approach delivers strong academic outcomes.

Learning at Kilvington is informed by The Character Initiative and grounded in neuroscience research into the benefits of a growth mindset. We focus on shaping perspectives, strengthening character and building the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Students are supported to think deeply, act with integrity and strive for their personal best.
In Years 7–9, students benefit from a combination of single-gender classes and coeducational classes, tailored to meet their developmental needs. Our close-knit community allows for a highly personalised approach, with student wellbeing supported through strong relationships with classroom teachers, Wellbeing Deans, Mentors and a dedicated wellbeing team. When students feel known and supported, they shine.
