Sustainability from the Ground Up

Research shows introducing sustainability education early helps children develop a strong sense of responsibility for the environment. By encouraging students to become active stewards of the planet, we’re helping them grow into compassionate, informed citizens equipped to make a positive impact.

Sustainability is woven into life at Kilvington in age-appropriate and meaningful ways. From hands-on initiatives like Gardening Club, E-Waste collections, Worm Farms, and Sustainability Expos to larger programs such as our ResourceSmart Schools partnership and student-led Sustainability Leadership Teams, we provide real opportunities for students to learn by doing. These experiences build teamwork, leadership and environmental literacy in equal measure.

Through both curriculum and co-curricular activities, Kilvington embeds sustainability into students’ daily experiences, from Junior School Geography units and CERES excursions to the Year 10 Sustainable World Project. By nurturing environmental curiosity and care across all year levels, we’re preparing young people to lead in a world urgently in need of their ideas and action.
