Student Wellbeing

When students feel supported in their emotional, social and physical wellbeing, they flourish, who grow into curious, resilient and compassionate individuals ready to make a positive impact.

It Starts with Character

Students' strengths and character are nurtured, supporting their emotional wellbeing and personal growth. Through The Character Initiative - a unique program offering a range of activities and tools - along with dedicated student wellbeing programs, each student’s growth is supported to help them become the best version of themselves.

It Starts with Character

Where Every Child Is Seen, Valued, and Supported

We’re proud to offer more than just academic excellence - Kilvington offers a values-driven education grounded in genuine care. Every student is seen as someone of infinite worth, nurtured with respect, and supported to achieve their personal best. From celebrating academic success to closely monitoring individual progress.

Where Every Child is Seen

Beyond the classroom, we focus on shaping character and building meaningful relationships. Our students learn the value of empathy, gratitude, and courage, while developing confidence, kindness, and a strong sense of belonging. Whether it’s through our, community initiatives, School House system, or global outlook, we empower young people to grow not just academically, but personally.

Wellbeing Programs for Every Stage of Development

Kilvington offers a range of wellbeing programs to support students throughout Junior and Senior School. The Resilience Project teaches students from Prep to Year 8 key mental health strategies such as gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness.

In Junior School, the KidsRoar Personal Safety program equips students with the tools to protect themselves, while the Peer Support Leadership program allows older students to lead younger peers in structured, research-backed sessions that focus on connectedness, and emotional intelligence.

In the Senior School, HouseMates fosters peer relationships and leadership, with Year 7 students mentored by Year 10 students within their House.

The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program provide tools for students to protect themselves and develop respectful, emotionally intelligent relationships. HAT Wellbeing offers students a space to engage in meaningful discussions on wellbeing, and My Mind Check empowers students to reflect on their mental health and provides schools with valuable insights into their overall wellbeing.

Each of these programs is designed to build emotional resilience, social connection, and mental health awareness, ensuring students are supported at every stage of their development.

Supporting Students Every Step of the Way

Kilvington students are grouped into four School Houses - Barrett, Burman, Fethers, and Fysh, where House competitions in athletics, arts, cross country, debating, and swimming foster school spirit, teamwork, and leadership. These events also help students develop a strong sense of belonging.

Supporting Students

In Senior School, each student is part of a Mentor Group, led by a dedicated teacher who builds meaningful relationships with a small group of 10 to 12 students. Mentors guide students through both group and one-on-one sessions, understanding their interests, strengths and academic goals.

Alongside Mentors, key staff such as the School Educational Psychologists, Careers Advisor, Chaplain, International Student Coordinator, and VCE Coordinator all play vital roles in supporting student wellbeing and ensuring every student receives the care and guidance they need to thrive.
